Checklist for Winter Ready Interiors

 ||Getting Your Home Ready For Winter And The Holiday Season||

Preparing your home for the holiday and winter season may not feel necessary—or even be top of mind—this time of year, but starting now will help you make sure your home is in great shape for holiday and winter. If your dwelling area does have harsh winters, create a plan for preparing your home and property now, so that when first surprise freeze hits, you can rest easy.

Go through the checklist below to prepare your home for winter.

1. Check Heating And Air Conditioning System Of Home:

Most heating and air systems typically last 12 to 15 years. Before the weather turns cold, take this time to change your filters, at the very least. Better yet, look into an annual maintenance agreement.

2. Seal Your Masonry And Hard Surfaces:

Your patio needs attention, too. If your patio, driveways, or walkways are concrete-built, make sure they’re protected as well. Off and on, apply a concrete sealer to all of your flat exterior concrete surfaces.

3. Check Your Drainage:

Make sure the soil around your foundation hasn’t settled, creating areas for water to pool at your foundation. Saturated soil around a foundation can create real problems as it freezes and thaws throughout the winter months. Just follow these helpful, last-minute tips to guide you on the right path of a stress-free Holiday season.

4. Spruce Up the Leading Spaces:

Don’t worry about getting every nook and cranny. Give your attention to the main areas in your home that guests will be seeing like the front porch, entryway, kitchen, living room, and bathrooms. A quick cleaning with an old sock isn’t a bad idea, either.

5. Use Seasonal Scents: Get a delightful smelling environment for your home with holiday-scented candles or stovetop scents that will warmly welcome your guests as they enter the home.

6. Clean Your Fridge And Oven: Considering the holiday season, if f you plan on cooking the holiday feast, it's a good idea to start by cleansing the fridge and giving the oven a deep clean.

7. Clean the Floors: It may seem like a daunting task, cleaning your floors without the help of a professional is possible. We have all the tips you need.

8. Prepare for Houseguests: Make your guests feel welcomed and loved. Take some time to tidy up the guest room and bathroom for your nearest and dearest ones who may stay over for a few nights. Be sure they feel comfortable and cozy at your home.
